Privacy Policy
Applied Arcana is a small practice, and we collect only what we need to read for you, ship to you, and write to you. Here's what that is and what happens to it.
What we collect
When you buy something: your name, email, shipping address, and order details. Card payments are processed by our payment providers; we never see or store your full card number.
When you book a session or buy a reading: your name, email, phone number if needed for the call, and whatever you choose to share about your question.
When you sign up for our letters: your first name and email, whether on our website, through a QR code, or on a paper slip at the market.
When you fill out a form: what you write, such as feedback after a reading.
When you visit the website: basic usage information, such as pages viewed and approximate location, collected by our website platform through cookies.
At the market: if you agree, we note which cards came up in your reading for our running tally. That record never includes your name.
How we use it
We use your information to fill orders, schedule and deliver readings and sessions, send the letters you signed up for, answer your messages, and understand how the practice is doing.
What we never do: sell your information, rent our list, or share what you tell us in a reading. If we ever write about client conversations or patterns from the reading table, it's anonymized or in aggregate, with no names or identifying details.
If you agree to a transcript of a phone reading, we may use a transcription tool to make it. We never record in-person sessions, and we don't record distance sessions otherwise, unless you request it and we agree. The resulting recording will be shared with you for your personal use only.
Who else handles it
We use a few trusted services to run the practice, and each handles your information under its own privacy policy:
Squarespace: our website, shop, and forms
Flodesk: our letters
Paperbell: booking and payments for sessions
Stripe and Square: payment processing (Stripe online, Square at in-person markets)
Pirate Ship and the shipping carriers: shipping your order
A transcription tool: only for phone-reading transcripts you've agreed to
We share only what each service needs to do its job. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Your choices
Unsubscribe from our letters anytime with the link at the bottom of every email.
See, correct, or delete your information: email us and we'll take care of it, apart from records we're required to keep, such as order and tax records.
Cookies: you can block or clear them in your browser; the site will still work.
Our services are for adults 18 and older, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
